Salvation Army

Lately all the Senior Ministers and I have been supporting charities. We all are choosing which charity to support and some of us are supporting the same thing, but that means we can get information about our charity quicker and really get everybodies minds thinking about the Salvation Army. I'm in a group with

Zone Cross Country

Last week was the Zone Croos Country, it was a test of stamina, and a really hard run. I ran 3k, and I came 34th. I've improved my personal best from last year which was 41st. I'm lookiing forward to relaxing, and calming down, the training was so intense that re-scheduling the time has been trickky. But I'll ajust.

Next term I will have hopefully confimed the dates of the District Athletics Carnival, and the Girls Footy. For now stay tuned.

Rowville Primary's Strange Doings...

On the 18th May Rowville Primary School had their Twilight School to celebrate education week. For the Twilight day, the times were obviously different, but the question is, how different? Well I'll tell you how different. The day started at a very odd time of 1:00pm and finished at 7:00pm, The things we did during all this time were all quite the same as a normal school day. The only difference was that everyone felt so strange coming to school at 1:00pm. None the less the day was fun, all parents were welcome to come during the whole school day. So the parents were able to not only see the work we've done hanging up around the room, but they also got to see us working live in the classroom. So it was great day overall.

Soon I will be letting you guys know on how the Zone Cross Country goes for me, on the 2nd June. That's all for today, bye for now, not forever.

District Cross Country

Introducing term 2 everyone. This term there is going to be lots of things that I will be updating you on. Stay tuned because I'm going to let you guys know on how the District Cross Country went last week. Firsty I'd like to give a big round of a plause for all whose competed in the District Cross Country. Secondly, well done to all those who competed on Friday and have made it through to Zone (1st - 10th). Now back to the details, Rowville Primary on the 30th April had their District Cross Country, me there to see the action was also in a race myself. I came 10th, so I now go through to Zone. Wish me luck. And what a day it was, people tired out, some running straight to their water bottle after their race. While others sat down once their race was over and watched the day go on. It was a very tiring day indeed and a fine effort from all the particapants.

Soon I'll let you guys know about some of the strange doings at Rowville Primary. And anything else that pops up during my week.

Leadership Training

Last term all the Senior Ministers had leadership training. We had 2 sessions, over 2 weeks. At the training we learnt what impromptu speaking was, and did a few impromptu speaches. We learnt how to use our body language, and how to express words. The training was outstanding, and something very new. I am now a lot more confident in my speaking, and will hopefully still improve. The Senior Ministers and I have all successfully had our first meeting for term 2, and are looking forward to further progress in our new set committee groups. And I am now very pleased to let you know, that I am in the Social Committee Group.

Very soon I will be letting you know on how Mrs Coveney goes on her Oxfam Challenge, with the rest of her Team. If you personaly would like to know how they are doing, you can just go onto the Oxfam Trailwalker website, and put in the number 401 or put in their Team name 'Step by Step'.

Howmans Gap AND School Fete!

Hey viewers, so sorry to be so late on updating! Still very tired from School Camp at Howmans Gap. It was awesome, there were so many activities and the food was great! I recommend for anyone going into grade 6 next year at Rowville.P.S to go on the School Camp. It's something you mustn't miss out on! And also the School Fete was on the day all the year 6s that went on camp came back. I was so exhausted from camp it was hard to keep myself awake. On the other hand the School Fete was loads of fun. I went on the Cyclone, and had a go at the Laser Strike. I also bought some fairy floss and some hot chips. I can't wait till next years School Fete.

This Friday, well tomorrow, is the last day for term 1, so we will be having a 2:30 finish. I may update during School Holidays, if not will update later in April. Stay Tuned!

The School Photos were today for the family photos and photos for the year 6s who are going off to camp on Monday. Everyone was looking pretty and clean. I had my photo taken in a matter of seconds, it was really quick to get our photos. On Monday there will be some more photos for everyone except the year 6s because of course their off on camp!

I will let you know on how grade 6 camp goes when we get back on Friday next week! And don't forget the day the grade 6s get back from camp is the day of the School Fete! See you there, maybe!

Parliament Trip!

Today was the most coolest experience ever. Apart from the McDonalds lunch break, the tour of parliament house itself was great! Our tour guides name was Trevor, and later on Mr. Kym Wells gave us quite a bit of a talk about his experiences, and some pretty cool behind the scenes secrets. The buildings were extraordinary, and the features were quite amazingly expensive. We learnt about the buildings at Parliament House, the law, the history of Parliament House, the positions of resposibility, and most importantly, all the different political partys. The knowledge I now have about how to be a leader, will help me a lot throughout the year. I will be using this knowledge as well as learning some more.

This Friday I will be letting you know about the school photos. And the grade 6s are heading off to camp this coming Monday. So when we get back on Friday I will try let you know on how it goes. And before I go I would just like to let you know that the Friday the grade 6s get back from camp, is the night of the School Fete! So don't forget to come!

Cross Country

Today was the School Cross Country, and all the year 4-6 students participated. There were 3 different catergories. By the way the boys and girls are in seperate events. Anyway there is the U/10s, the U/11s, and the U/12s. I was in the U/12s. Last year and the year before that I had come 1st. So today I was hoping so bad that I would win, for the 3rd time in a row! And before I knew it, we were racing. I was leading for about the whole time exept for the very start, but appart from that I was 1st the whole way. I had been training for this, and it all paid off. So next stage for me is District where i'll be up against other Schools in the district, for the run to come top 10 to get to zone. May I win it again for my School!

Don't forget that Monday is a public holiday. So I'll report to you on Tuesday about how the Parliament trip goes, at Parliament house!

Badge Presentation

Sorry about not being able to share the news of the grade 6 presentation, on Monday, but I'll just tell you now. So I'd just like to congratulate the School Captains for 2010 Adele Mackie, and Nathan Pendleburry, they really deserved it, and I'm sure they'll do a great job! In addition to the School Captains 14 people were awarded with the role of Senior Minister in the School Parliament and I was lucky enough to be one out of the 14. The Senior Minsters have been to many meetings already discussing the new plans for Rowville here, and will be going on a Parliament trip to Parliament house next Tuesday. There we will be learning a few more skills on how to be a better leader. Also on Monday we had House Captains. There was a boy and a girl for each individual house. And there are 6 different Houses. I am in Bergin the red house.

Tomorrow is the School Cross Country, so everybody from grades 4-6 who attend Rowville Primary, get your running shoes on and don't eat too much in the morning! Good Luck!

Grade 6 Swimming

Today the all the grade 6's including myself went swimming. It was loads of fun! We did freestyle, backstroke, some of us did butterfly, and we worked on our dives. We also did races, which were really tiring at times. But other than that I would have to say it was a real workout. I can't wait for tomorrow and for next week, because swimming doesn't finish till the 26th February. My class and I will be having quite a few more refreshing days, in the water, until the fun is over and it's all back to boiling hot days!

Just wait till Monday next week, when I will have some real news on how the Badge Presentation goes. But that's all for now, or for today at least, and I will have some more great news coming up!

Prep Buddies!

During the week all the year 6's were really keen to meet their prep buddy. We had to wait until Thursday, when we finally got to meet them and got to know a little bit about them. I am sharing a buddy with Adele, the school captain. Our buddy's name is Zainab. Zainab has been very nice, kind, and caring to every new person that she has met this week, which is quite a lot of people. Other than that we've learnt quite a lot about Zainab and what she likes to do. Zainab quite enjoys to play on the prep playground and loves to swing on the blue monkey bars, as well as jumping on the topsy tervy bridge. Zainab likes to play duck-duck-goose with everyone and has been playing it many times with Adele and I. I can't wait to see Zainab again and play loads of fun games with her!

Kelsey Introduces...

Hello, to all those reading this. I'm introducing myself to you and to leadership! My name is Kelsey and here at Rowville Primary School I am a senior student, and I'm one of the few lucky leaders to being able to show the way, and demonstrate how to be a leader. My role is to lead a group of other students selected from years 3-6 to be a part of a committee group. Only 14 people got through to be a senior minister, which is the leader of the other students in your given group. There are 7 groups with 2 senior ministers leading each committee! The 7 different groups are Active Lifestyle, Community Relations, Environment, Health and Nutrition, Prep to Two, and Student Safety and Wellbeing.

I hope to keep you more updated every week throughout this year of 2010. Next week I will let you all know which group I will be in charge of. Keep on reading my blog!
